And it's handmade!

You know what's satisfying? Being able to replicate a crochet pattern from a few YouTube videos after years of craft practice. Muscle memory does pay off after all!
My Pinterest board is full of crochet tops screaming to come to life. When my friend and I signed up for yet another side-quest (watching Tems perform live last year), I knew I needed to rush to the drawing board. And the Life is a Carnival crochet top by @crochetbyeep was, without a doubt, my dedicated muse. I think I completed it in less than a week, if my memory serves me well.
The inspo called for two colours, but to be a little adventurous, I added a third one.
The sequence was hard to replicate at first, but once I could identify the stitches required, I was cruising, except for when I had to use black yarn. If you know, you know... crocheting with black yarn feels like staring into the abyss.
Here's a preview of the pattern:

Once my rectangle was complete, I sewed in a black cotton lining and made the required adjustments according to my body measurements. I still think it needs some waist adjustments, but that's a story for another day. I even added a zip, WHO IS SHE?
I wish I could provide a detailed pattern, but after skimming through my journal, I realised I wrote absolutely nothing down, not even in the notes app. I pinned, tried on, sewed, and unstitched until it fit right.
What I can do, however, is list the 6 different types of stitches required for The Life is a Carnival top:
Chain stitch (starter point) - ch
Single crochet stitch - sc
Shell stitch - ss
Puff stitch (pompom effect) - ps
Ladder stitch (extended double crochet) - ls
Double crochet - dc
Here's how it fits:
Thank you for reading, besties!
